Canvas Gradebook Checklist

Please follow these steps to be sure your Canvas gradebook is accurate. This needs to be done for each course.

  1. Enable Grading Scheme (FLCOE – 3-8 or FLCOE - HS) and click update course settings
    How to steps

  2. Check that all assignments are in the proper assignment groups.

  3. Check that all groups have the proper weights.
    How to steps
Note: Group weights are not required. If you do not add group weights all assignments will be calculated on points, regardless of the group in which they are placed.
  4. Check to be sure all assignments have due dates.
    How to steps
  5. If a manual grade is entered for an assignment submitted outside of Canvas, change the status from “missing” to “none” or “late” depending on the situation.

Additionally, we recommend that you change the Gradebook settings to manually post grades.
How to steps
You will then be in control of when your grades are posted and calculated on the student's grade. To post a grade, click on the three dots at the top of the gradebook column and select "Post grades" (see below).

Remember that assignments that do not have a grade are not calculated. You need to set them to zero manually or automatically to have them impact the student’s grade.
